Star Learner Awards March 2019
We're celebrating the excellent work done by two fantastic Apprenticeship and Traineeship learners
At UTS we are really lucky to see the rise of many talented learners and the dedication they have shown to developing truly rewarding careers. We want to say well done to everyone but there are a very special few that have gone over and above and deserve some special recognition.
Star Learner Award
Congratulations to Anthony Ulamen from L&Q Living!
Our Star Learner Award is given to learners who’ve really gone the extra mile, bringing energy and passion into their organisation and showing real dedication to progressing with their Apprenticeship.
Anthony is very dedicated to his work, having always exceeded expectations and completing learning tasks to a very high standard. He works hard to make a difference to the lives of those he support and we have all seen a real, fundamental improvement across his care practice since he began his Apprenticeship. He brightens up the training sessions he attends with his positive and proactive attitude and is always a pleasure to work with.
Anthony told us ‘I am very humbled and excited to have won the Star Learner Award. It has been fantastic over the last 12 months I started the Apprenticeship programme training with UTS. The Training support team has being great and the learning out comes, experiences and practical skills I have acquired has been the best. My development in social care skills, knowledge and implementation of care that I learnt during my training has without a doubt enhanced my ability to execute my roles effectively to promote and better the wellbeing of residents in my care at Moyers Lodge’.
Working for L&Q Living, Anthony delivers care and support services to people with a diverse range of support needs. All of L&Q’s services are rated Good or Outstanding by the CQC, and it’s great employees like Anthony who are selected, supported and developed through high quality learning programmes by L&Q that deserve to be recognised as a driving force behind this great achievement.
His manager Albert William told us: ‘Anthony is a capable and driven individual, his confidence has grown over the period that he has been working with us and he has developed a good understanding of his role as a support worker. One thing I have picked up is that he is very client focused and has developed a good rapport with his clients and other staff. I am delighted that he has been chosen to receive the star learner award.’
John Bryson, Head of Academy at L&Q said: ‘Anthony is one of our hardworking support workers from our care schemes who is highly valued by L&Q. We are delighted that he has been chosen as Star Learner, which is great recognition for his dedication to his job and his studies. The L&Q Academy is pleased to be able to work with UTS to train apprentices and qualify our workforce’.
Well done Anthony, your £50 gift voucher is on it’s way!
Rising Star Award
Congratulations to Mia Davies from Herts County Council!
Our Rising Star Award goes to learners who’ve made a huge improvement in their skills and knowledge, and who show real promise for making outstanding achievements in future.
Mia has shown determination and tenacity in working towards her Traineeship qualification. She has a positive attitude to learning, always comes ready to learning sessions willing to share her experiences, and is keen to understand how our topics of study relate to her experience on placement. Her confidence is growing as she continues to develop her knowledge and learn new skills.
Mia is working as Support Worker for people with Learning Disabilities, which involves supporting service users with meals, day trips and activities whilst working in a person centred way. A big part of her role is building trusting relationships with service users and working to improve their independence and self-confidence.
Congratulations Mia, there’s a £50 gift voucher coming your way!
