This course has been developed to support learners working within the housing sector to gain the knowledge and understanding of how and why equality, diversity and inclusion should be implemented.  It explores how the application of these are fundamental to providing a supporting and empowering role to individuals using a range of housing services.
This course is delivered using a range of methods and resources including:
Group discussions, small group activities, workbooks and DVD clips.
This course has been developed and mapped to:
The Equality Act 2010
The Care Certificate Standard 4
And the following QCF unit:
Promote Equality and Inclusion in Health, Social Care or Children’s and Young People’s Settings

The Equality Act 2010
Protected characteristics explained
Championing the right of everyone to have respect and dignity at work
Defining harassment and bullying and strategies to eliminate unfair behaviour
Developing a greater understanding of equality and diversity
How to identify, build and develop best practice that it is meaningful and worthwhile
The benefits of Equality and Diversity to the worker, team and organisation
Cultural norms, values, differences and expectations and their impact on others

Learning outcomes

Describe how the Equality Act 2010 has evolved from other legislation
List ways in which they can champion rights to respect and dignity
List strategies to eliminate unfair behaviour 
Describe how to identify, develop and build best practice
List the benefits to the worker, team and organisation
Explain how to stop stereotyping becoming a prejudice
