Effective Management of Risk in Mental Health Settings

Course overview

This course has been developed for Frontline staff to empower individuals they support to gain greater control of their lives by taking positive risks, whilst acknowledging the hazards associated with that risk. This course will also enable learners to develop their knowledge about Person Centred Planning, giving them the opportunity to use PCP tools available and widely used within adult social care. Learners will also be given the knowledge to support them develop a proactive approach to supporting individuals with monitoring and maintaining their mental health. Learners will take part in a workshop to support them to use the PCP tools, complete risk assessments and Serious Incident Forms.
This course is delivered using a range of methods and resources including:
Case studies, group discussions, small group activities, risk assessments and Serious Incident Forms
