Course overview

This course has been developed to give learners the knowledge and skills to be able to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator), perform CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and follow the process for managing a choking casualty. Learners will be supported to be able carry out these processes competently and with confidence.
Learners will have the opportunity to gain an accredited certificate that will last for 3 years. To renew their qualification in 3 years, learners will need to retake the course. It is recommended that learners attend annual refresher courses.
This course is delivered using a range of methods and resources including:
Group discussions, observation of practice, Q&A, practical activities, case studies and DVD clips.
This course has been developed and mapped to:

Responsibilities and reporting
Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
Assessment of the situation
