First Aid at Work (FAW) Three Day Level 3 Award

Course overview

This course is for all staff members who have been designated as the First Aider at Work.  It supports learners to gain a qualification to the highest level of First Aid at Work, and which meets the statutory requirements of the Health & Safety (First Aid) regulations 1981.
This comprehensive three day course covers a wide range of First Aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with an emergency situation with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way.
Assessment & Certification
Assessment of learning is ongoing throughout the course by the instructor through discussion, questioning, individual and group activities, practical work, observations and a multiple choice questions paper. 
This course is fully accredited and on successful completion, learners will receive a 3 year qualification from our awarding body.
To ensure this qualification is kept in date, a three yearly, two day refresher course will need to be undertaken to re-qualify.
It is a recommendation by the HSE and HSENI, that the learners consider an annual 3 hour refresher.
This course is delivered using a range of methods and resources including:
Practical activities, group discussions, small group activities and DVD clips.

Learning outcomes

State the role and responsibilities of an emergency first aider
Know how to assess an incident
Show how to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
Show how to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
Recognise and assist a casualty who is choking
Show how to manage a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
Show how to manage a casualty who is in shock
Explain how to manage a casualty with a minor injury
