Course overview

This course has been developed to support Practitioners and their Managers to understand and utilise the methods, skills and principles that underpin effective, accountable decision making for Child Protection and Adults at Risk. Through group work and discussions, learners’ skills and confidence will develop in participating in and chairing Child Protection meetings, Adults at Risk planning meetings, and case conferences, in line with multi-agency policies and procedures.
This course is delivered using a range of methods and resources including:

Course content

Professional accountability for Adults at Risk
Using multi agency policies, procedures and protocols to inform decision making
Communicating decision making rational effectively to others
Effective Adults at Risk meetings as either participate or chair

Learning outcomes

  • Explain how to manage and perform their professional responsibilities in relation to accountability in Adults at Risk
  • State ways to rationalise and articulate their judgements and practice responses to service users, carers and other agency personnel
  • Describe how to locate their “decision making within multi-agency Adults at Risk” policy and other relevant policies and procedures
  • Describe the impact of effective participation in or chairing and planning meetings and case conferences
  • Explain where to research knowledge and procedures alongside statutory, professional and ethnic considerations which will inform clear, accountable, decision making
