Course overview

This course has been developed to introduce participants to key concepts of migration, diversity and cultural competence. Exploring their own culture and values, participants will reflect on how these can effect workplace interactions. Finally, participants will discuss strategies and tools for effective cross-cultural communication.
Cultural competency is about developing skills, this includes improving your own ability to control, challenge or change your own false beliefs, assumptions and stereotypes. It will support flexibility to find information about those who are different from you and how to recognise that your own thinking is not the only way.
This course is delivered using a range of methods and resources including:
Scenarios, case studies, group discussions and small group activities.
