Course overview

This course has been developed to support learner’s knowledge around cultural awareness. Respecting multi-culturalism is high on the agenda of housing organisations and staff should be empowered to build effective working relationships that avoid potential discrimination that could have far-reaching consequences on the services they provide.
This course is delivered using a range of methods and resources including:
Fact or fiction card game, group discussions and small group activities.
This course has been developed and mapped to:
The Care Certificate Standard 4
And the following QCF units:
Promote equality and inclusion in Health, Social Care or Children’s and young people’s settings.

Course content

The Equality Act 2010
Appreciating all facets of cultural diversity
Similarities and differences within and between different cultures
The value and richness of a diverse workforce
The impact of stereotyping
Reducing the likelihood of conflict and confrontation
Providing effective diverse services

Learning outcomes

Describe how the Equality Act 2010 has evolved from other legislation
List a minimum of 3 cultures and their main beliefs 
Explain the benefits of cultural diversity to the organisation and its employees
State the impact of stereotyping on those using the services provided 
Plan to reduce likely conflict and confrontation
