The course provides an overview of the autistic spectrum and explores the impact this may have on an individual and their families and or carer’s. It provides learners with key areas of knowledge including individuality, communication and person centered support.
Learners will reflect on current practice and explore how they may need to adjust their practice in line with current legislation and practice guidelines.
This course is delivered using a range of methods and resources including:
Group discussions, small group activities, fact sheets, sensory experience activities and DVD clips.
This course has been developed and mapped to:
The Autism Act 2009
The Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015
Guide to the children’s homes regulations including the quality standards
