Course overview

This course has been developed for staff who have a responsibility for moving and handling people and loads. It prepares staff to take care of their back both in and out of the workplace. It is based upon the ‘Guide to Handling of Patients 6th edition’. The course is theory based.  
This course is delivered using a range of methods and resources including:
Group discussions, small group activities, spinal models and individual assessments.
This course has been developed and mapped to:
The Care Certificate Standard 13
Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992
Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998
And the following QCF units:
Move and Position Individuals in Accordance with their Plan of Care
Promote and Implement Health and Safety in Health and Social Care
