Course overview

This course has been developed to support staff to empower individuals they are supporting to gain greater control of their lives by taking positive risks whilst acknowledging the hazards associated with that risk.  Sometimes people’s decisions might be perceived by professionals or family members as carrying unnecessary risk and this course will challenge those thoughts and concepts. 
This course is delivered using a range of methods and resources including:
Scenarios, group discussions, small group activities and positive risk taking documentation.
This course has been developed and mapped to:
The Care Certificate Standard 5
Department of Health Document: Independence, Choice and Risk
Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
