This programme will assess learners’ ability to competently perform a range of tasks in areas of practice such as person centred working, communication and interaction, equality and diversity as well as individuals’ rights and choices.
The achievement of this qualification can be used towards the achievement of the level 3 diploma in health and social care.

Understand and Enable Interaction and Communication with Individuals who have Dementia
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Dementia Care Practice
Understand the impact of recognition and diagnosis of dementia
Understand how dementia care must be underpinned by a person centred approach
Understand key legislation and agreed ways of working that support the fulfillment of rights and choices of individuals with dementia while minimising risk of harm
Maximise the rights and choices of individuals with dementia
Involve carers and others in supporting individuals with dementia
Maintain the privacy, dignity and respect of individuals with dementia whilst promoting rights and choices
Understand the factors that can affect interactions and communication of individuals with dementia
Communicate with an individual with dementia using a range of verbal and non-verbal techniques
Communicate positively with an individual who has dementia by valuing their individuality
Use positive interaction approaches with individuals with dementia
Understand that each individual’s experience of dementia is unique
Understand the importance of diversity, equality and inclusion in dementia care and support
Work in a person centred manner to ensure inclusivity of the individual with dementia
Work with others to encourage support for diversity and equality
Learners will be required to complete a workbook to evidence their knowledge for each unit.
Performance also runs through the qualification and therefore observation of practice will be carried out in the work place.
Learners will also need to produce self-reflective accounts, take part in professional discussions and provide a range of work products.
This will all be assessed by a member of the Unique Training Solutions assessment team and will go through the UTS quality assurance process.
All of the assessment criteria must be met for all of the units to achieve the full qualification.
