This programme will assess learners’ ability to competently perform a range of tasks in areas of practice such as person centred working, communication and interaction, equality and diversity as well as individuals’ rights and choices.
The achievement of this qualification can be used towards the achievement of the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care.

Understand the key features of the theoretical models of dementia
Know the most common types of dementia and their causes
Understand the factors relating to an individual’s experience of dementia
Understand the importance of a person centred approach to dementia care and support
Involve the individual with dementia in planning and implementing their care and support using a person centred approach
Involve carers and others in the care and support of individuals with dementia
Understand the importance of equality, diversity and inclusion when working with individuals with dementia
Apply a person centred approach in the care and support of individuals with dementia
Work with a range of individuals who have dementia to ensure diverse needs are met
Understand key legislation and agreed ways of working that ensure the fulfillment or rights and choices of individuals with dementia while minimising risk of harm

Learners will be required to complete a workbook to evidence their knowledge for each unit.
Performance also runs through the qualification and therefore observation of practice will be carried out in the work place.
Learners will also need to produce self-reflective accounts, take part in professional discussions and provide a range of work products.
This will all be assessed by a member of the Unique Training Solutions assessment team and will go through the UTS quality assurance process.
All of the assessment criteria must be met for all of the units to achieve the full qualification.
