Moving, Handling and Positioning for Clinical Staff

Course overview

This course is for clinical staff who have a responsibility for moving, handling and positioning people within a nursing care environment.
It prepares staff to take care of their back both in and out of the workplace and to support each individual they work with to be moved and positioned in accordance with their plan of care. It is based upon the ‘Guide to Handling of Patients 6th edition’. The course comprises of both theoretical and practical work.
This course is delivered using a range of methods and resources including:
Group discussions, small group activities, DVD clips, sliding sheets, handling belts and hoists.
This course has been developed and mapped to:
Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992
Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998
And the following QCF units:
Move and Position Individuals in Accordance with their Plan of Care
Promote and Implement Health and Safety in Health and Social Care
