Mental Health First Aid for Adults 2 Day Course

Subject category: Mental Health

Course overview

This course has been developed to equip learners with the knowledge and skills required to offer initial first aid to someone experiencing a mental health problem before professional help is obtained. Mental health first aid does not teach someone to be a therapist. This works in the same way as first aid for physical injuries or problems. Both are supportive until professional treatment can be accessed

This two day Mental Health First Aid course will look at how to recognise early signs of mental health problems and respond appropriately to assist people in your community, family or workplace. Learners will gain practical skills to offer initial support to someone experiencing mental health problems, while keeping themselves safe. Learners will also be provided with information from nationally recognised organisations so that they can feel confident assisting someone to get the right support.

This course is delivered using a range of methods and resources including:

Group discussions, case studies small group activities and DVD clips.
