Lead Person Centred Care Practice – for Managers


This course has been developed to provide Managers with the understanding on how to support the process of implementing and supporting teams, by leading person centred care practice in the workplace. Managers will develop existing knowledge on the theory and principles that underpin person-centred practice. Lead to Succeed - Developing a Positive Culture


This course will support managers to develop an understanding of how to build a positive culture within a team and the benefits this will bring. It will explore how cultural change influences services to be positive and promotes strong leadership. 

Great leadership is the key to sustained positive culture change. Leaders who build trusting environments, communicate effectively, are consistent in their behaviours, and role-model desired behaviours, create sustained positive culture change. 

Throughout the course, managers will be able to carry out self-reflections on their own performance and that of their teams, and will be able to analyse, devise and carry out an action plan for positive change.

Leading Innovation and Change

Subject category: Leadership and Management
This programme will support managers to develop their leadership skills and abilities. During the programme, managers will analyse their own leadership styles and the impact these can have on themselves and others within their staff teams. Good leadership requires deep human qualities, beyond conventional notions of authority, and to become a good leader managers need to have the required attitudes and behaviours that demonstrate their ability to lead their teams and organisations to a high standard.
Managers will explore the subject of Emotional Intelligence and understand how their behaviour within a senior role can impact on others. They will also explore how Emotional Intelligence supports the development of a more effective leader.
The programme will support managers to develop skills in understanding the importance of innovation and change, by explaining to managers why we need change within the organisation. The programme will explore how to propose innovative solutions to improve organisational performance, including assessing opportunities for innovation, ranges of techniques to generate innovative options and the leadership skills required to lead innovation and change.
Managers will also explore how to lead and manage change within their organisation by creating a change management plan, and ways to implement the change within the management plan and monitor the progress against agreed targets.
During the programme managers will be supported to understand how a business plan is structured, when it is appropriate to write one, and how it is linked to the overall business strategy. Along with the implementation of the plan, the whole team will need to work alongside the plan to gain outstanding results.
Finally, managers will learn how to use negotiation skills, including body language, communication and listening skills, in order to encourage a positive outcome to take business ideas forward, and supporting them on how to deal with difficult negotiation situations. The managers will gain an understanding of the importance of influencing without authority and how to utilise these skills to help drive the business forward.

This programme is delivered using a range of methods and resources including:-

Learning Disability Awareness

Subject category: Learning Disabilities
This course has been developed to explore the meaning of what is a learning disability and considers issues closely linked with learning disability support. It will explore working in a person centred way to empower individuals to make choices about the care and support that they receive. The course will explore working with families and multi-agency approaches which help to maximise the individual’s community presence and involvement.

Level 2 Award in Awareness of Dementia


The level 2 award in awareness of dementia assesses learners’ knowledge and understanding of practices in the care of individuals with dementia. 

The qualification consists of four mandatory units which assesses learners’ general awareness of dementia care issues; their knowledge of person-centred approaches, their understanding of factors that can influence communication and the impact that diversity, equality and inclusion can have on the individual’s experience of dementia.

The knowledge gained through the achievement of these qualifications can be used towards the achievement of the certificates in dementia care as well as the diploma in health and social care


Level 2 Certificate in Dementia Care

The Level 2 Certificate in Dementia Care is aimed at those already working in care roles with individuals with dementia and provides an opportunity for learners to have their knowledge and skills recognised through the achievement of a nationally recognised qualification. 

This programme will assess learners’ ability to competently perform a range of tasks in areas of practice such as person centred working, communication and interaction, equality and diversity as well as individuals’ rights and choices. 

The achievement of this qualification can be used towards the achievement of the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care.

The Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment is aimed at learners who work in roles in assessment and internal quality assurance as well as those looking to enter such roles. This qualification is for anyone who is looking to quality assure the work of assessors within a work environment.
This Award will provide those who carry out assessments and internal quality assurance with the opportunity to develop and improve their practice.
The knowledge only unit, Understand the Principles and Practices of Assessment, also allows anyone who is not a practitioner, but is interested in knowing more about assessment and quality assurance, to acquire knowledge and information about the processes.

It is aimed at those already working in a care environment or those that are preparing to work in a care environment, who wish to gain knowledge and understanding of caring for individuals with dementia. The qualification can also be used as professional development to gain an understanding of this specialist area of practice. 
The knowledge gained through the achievement of these qualifications can be used towards the achievement of the certificates in dementia care as well as the diploma in health and social care


Level 3 Award in Awareness of End of Life Care Qualification Overview

The Level 3 Award in Awareness of End of Life Care provides an opportunity to develop different perspectives of death and dying, aims and principles of end of life care, communication factors in end of life care and how to access a range of support services in end of life care.
