This course looks at ‘good’ and ‘bad’ reports, identifying the skills needed to put visual observations into a report. Harm Reduction

Subject category:
This course has been developed for employees who require the skills and knowledge to support individuals with harm reduction strategies, in relation to substance misuse. The course will take an in depth look at some of the substances commonly misused by individuals and the effects that these can have on the person, the barriers people may face to becoming substance free and the interventions and treatment options available to support the individual. 
The course will discuss ways in which harm can be minimised whilst the individual is using substances or is in the treatment stage. By the end of the session, learners will have a good understanding of the cycle of change in order to help rebuild resilience and understand the stages that individuals go through in substance misuse and recovery.

This course has been developed to provide or enhance learner knowledge and understanding of FGM, Forced Marriage and Honour Based Violence which supports the safeguarding of children and young people. Attendance will enhance practitioner confidence in dealing with these extremely sensitive topics.
Throughout the delivery of this course, up to date policies and legislation are embedded which will promote how to effectively support and safeguard children and young people in line with current UK law.
The course also offers the opportunity to discuss the impact of diverse cultural values and attitudes that impose the honour codes and its impact on victims. We will provide practitioners with useful tools to identify potential victims as well as to better assist children and young people at risk through a culturally sensitive and multi-agency approach.

This course has been developed to provide learners with knowledge of Hoarding as a disorder. The course will look at the different ways living with a Hoarding disorder impacts on individuals and others in their social networks.  It considers the benefits of early intervention in promoting mental health and well–being, and will focus on supporting learners to develop a deeper understanding of the solution based therapies available.

Homelessness

This course has been designed to raise awareness of the issues surrounding homelessness and its impact on individuals. It will provide carers and staff with a clear understanding of the potential impact, not only on the individual, but also the impact and cost on the rest of society.
